The inventor of the 1911 and .45 ACP cartridge was born on this day in 1855.

Other notable Browning inventions are the BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle), the Browning Hi Power pistol, and the M2 .50 BMG which is still in use by US Armed Forces to this day.
