The Jefferson County, Alabama Commission is scum.

It has long been known that the Jefferson County Commission is nothing but a wretched hive of scum and villainy.  This is just further proof.
The Jefferson County Commission today approved a code that will improve the quality of life for residents, according to county officials.

"You're not going to have somebody throwing up a shack next to your $500,000 home. You're not going to have dilapidated mobile homes just laying around or junk cars," Smoot said. "When a new grocery store or a convenience store goes in we're going to be regulating the signage, the color of that sign, the building whether it's brick as opposed to tin."
This is a travesty.  This is what America has come to, and it disgusts me.  For a government entity to tell people what they can and can't do with their own property is a clear violation of property rights.  It is a blatant and repugnant seizure of power.
