Federal Bureau of Incompetence.

A while back the FBI planted an agent with a militia group, found nothing but a lot of big talk, and then arrested the militia members for plotting to kill police and wage war against the government.  It was all over the news, this huge success of the FBI in stopping a bunch of dangerous homegrown terrorists.

Only, not so much:

DETROIT — A federal judge on Tuesday gutted the government’s case against seven members of a Michigan militia, dismissing the most serious charges in an extraordinary defeat for federal authorities who insisted they had captured homegrown rural extremists poised for war.

U.S. District Judge Victoria Roberts said the members’ expressed hatred of law enforcement didn’t amount to a conspiracy to rebel against the government. The FBI had secretly planted an informant and an FBI agent inside the Hutaree militia starting in 2008 to collect hours of anti-government audio and video that became the cornerstone of the case.

Funny how these things work out.  Also funny how this dismissal wasn't all over the news for days.  Actually, not funny.  Typical is more like that.

I think these guys were nutty.  But being nutty is not the same as being terrorists.  I'd hate to see what the FBI could do with hours of audio and video conversations I've had with freedom minded friends over the years.  I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to present it in such a way as to make me appear to be some crazy terrorists out to kill the government.

The FBI has a history of saying, "Oh, you're a freedom fighter/soldier of allah/militia member who hates the US government/people?  So are we!  Here's a bomb, go plant it here," and then making an arrest and saying "ZOMG!!1 We're fucking HEROS who just saved you from the next 9/11!!"

I'm getting a little tired of it.

Yeah, not surprised the MSM didn't cover it, it doesn't 'fit' their agenda...
