Sometimes, stupid DOES hurt: Arson Edition

Unfortunately this case more infuriates me than amuses me:

A Jefferson County woman was severely burned on her feet and arms when she set fire to her estranged husband's travel trailer and her father-in- law's house Monday night.

The woman, with her 3-year-old daughter in tow, poured gasoline inside the trailer and ignited it while she was still inside. There was a small explosion and she was burned on her extremities, as well as other body parts, said Jefferson County sheriff's Chief Deputy Randy Christian.

Bad enough she commits arson (a felony), but she does it with her 3-year old daughter with her.  And the Jefferson County Sheriff's department, with a confession of arson and child endangerment, does what?

When questioned by a deputy at the hospital, the woman admitted to the arson and said she and her husband have been separated for about a month, Christian said. The woman has not been charged, he said.

I really, really hope they're just waiting for her to be released from the hospital before charging her, but I'm afraid I don't have a whole lot of confidence in that.
