Regarding freedom in modern society.

Something that keeps popping into my head lately is this:

People seem to equate standard of living with freedom. Just because your standard of living is extremely high, or moderately high for that matter, does not necessarily mean you are more free.

Also, universal suffrage is often touted as a great sign of our freedom, but is it really? How much of a say do you, individually, actually have as far as who represents you? Not very much. I think one thing we should be pushing for is a massive expansion of the House of Representatives while at the same time repealing the 17th Amendment.
