A lot of traffic is getting steered this way because this blog has become the #2 search result for the 'thumb break method,' specifically this post.
I liked the thumb break method, and if using a vertical grip it's the way I would should most times. However, I've found that getting rid of the vertical grip and going with a Magpul AFG has been the best move, for me, I could make when it comes to carbine shooting. I just shoot better with it, and it feels better.
I want to take a couple of carbine courses, as well as do a lot more shooting one my own. If this new job I just started goes the way I hope it does then both of those things may be happening within the next few months.
Derek Weida Alright before we edit the competition video to make me look cooler than I am... Here's the truth. Some of you have followed my training for these lunges. Suffice it to say that the entire process tested my resolve, my perseverance, my physical and mental tenacity. The lunges came at the very end of the competition for me. Going into the event I didn't know if realistically I had a single one in the tank. I had to tell myself, "I don't care what happens. I'm going to try. I'm going to do my best. And I'm not going to quit." I finished last place in this event and you know what? I couldn't be happier. There's no shame or regret from walking away from something knowing that you gave it a 100% best effort. I can't thank everybody enough for the cheers, the love and support. You kept me in there reminding me that it's my responsibility to push myself beyond reasonable limits so that others can say, "If he can do that, I can do whatever the fuck I want." My eternal gratitude. Now go and have the best day of your life!! WOO!!
